Madame Alexander Marvel Fan Girls Dolls: Spider-Gwen Review

The Spider-Gwen Fan Girl doll from Madame Alexander is as cute as the other two dolls I have reviewed in this series, but she has a few flaws they lack.

What I Like About the Madame Alexander Marvel Fan Girl Spider-Gwen

This doll has the same pretty Face mold as the other M.A. Fan Girls, as well as rooted lashes and an articulated body. The doll has already been fun to redress and pose.

I have a mixed reaction to her two-tone hair. While it is currently trendy, it dates her, and I will probably wish she didn't have partially pink hair before too long.

Her vivid blue eyes are lovely and expressive. The sunglasses are cute, but they don't fold. Spider-Gwen's little teal boots are adorable and were quickly stolen by the Black Widow Fan Girl, because they match her Barbie dress.

What I Don't Like About the Madame Alexander Marvel Spider-Gwen Fan Girl

This doll's costume is a mess. I would love the pink-lined silver hoody if it were attached to a shirt or jacket, but it's attached to a cheap little crop top. I would also loved the black mesh stockings but they have faddish tears in them that make them virtually useless. The skirt will also be hard to repurpose.

WARNING: Take her cheap black gauntlets off IMMEDIATELY if you ever plan to debox your Spider-Gwen. They stain her arms and hands, and I am afraid the black stockings may do the same over time. The photo shows the deepest stains but it didn't capture the fact that her arms are now duskier than the rest of Spider-Gwen.

I didn't like her pointy bangs and trimmed them almost as soon as I opened the box. Not only are they cut into a point, but there is a bit of unevenness to them that make them have gappy layers in a couple of spots. Trimming them helped.

In summary, the doll is cute, her articulated joints make her very pose-able, and her sunglasses and boots are nice accessories. There isn't much about her outfit I can recommend, except to recommend that her black gauntlets are removed ASAP, because they will stain. There is a good chance her torn black pantyhose will stain as well over time.

This doll will be fun to redress and play with, so overall I am happy with the Madame Alexander Marvel Fan Girl Spider-Gwen, and am glad I added her to my Marvel Fan Girls doll collection.
