Fashion Dolls 101

  We are only two small gnomes, red-white-and-blue from tip of cap to toe of boot, standing with our little flags. One of us holds the Stars and Stripes. The other holds the America 250 banner. One a simple sign that reads USA, the other a heart of red, white, and blue. We keep to our humble hearth and home, and we have long memories. We do not understand why so many of our countrymen—especially the young—have been taught to look away from the deliberate terrorism of September 11, 2001.   Easter Gnomes at Walgreens The little Easter Gnomes are out on the shelves at Walgreens, and they are oh-so-cute! Dressed in mint green and basic pink outfits and wearing pointy caps with white fur trim and white polka dots— with bunny ears, they are sure to be an Easter hit.  The little green gnome carries a big orange carrot. The diminutive pink fellow has a pink and yellow floral bouquet. Both are super cute and probably about 4 inches tall. You can find the seasonal little gnomes on the shelves at Walgreens in the Easter aisle. Part gnome, part bunny and 100% adorable—Hop on in and grab one today.

 Various Dollar stores offer a variety of gnome figures, and I have already shared some of my finds on this blog.  These two figures came from Dollar Tree. I added a cute little gnome I found at a Dollar store and thought my little fall gnome family was complete… and then this week I found this sweet little thanksgiving gnome at a Dollar General store. What a cute little autumn gnome grouping! ~ Cute seasonal gnomes are taking over for fall & Halloween decorating ~   Gnome for the Fall Festivities A few days ago I wrote about some of the cute new fall and Halloween gnomes showing up at Dollar Tree .  They have had quite the variety on their shelves this season. and each Dollar Tree I have visited has had a different group of gnomes.  I mentioned that I wanted to go back for the little trick-or-treating dog, and I did! But when I got there, they had added this handsome fellow to the assortment.  Of course I got both, so the little dog has a friend. See photo at top.  Which ones do you like best?   Dollar Tree has an unexpected selection of Gnomes and critters out for Halloween. Typically they issue two, maybe three and rarely four gnomes at a time, but this is an assortment of five little trick or treaters, made like their gnomes and Easter bunnies. While not exactly gnomes, they would definitely fit in with your fall gnome collection.  There is a ghost, a candy corn witch, a dog, a bat and a purple monster, available for $1.50 each.  Little Autumn gnomes are popping up in stores! So far I have seen the little fall cuties in two different places: Walgreens and Dollar General Store. The first group of fall cuties came from Dollar General. At $1 each, I should have snapped up one of each.  The second group is equally cute and came from Walgreens. These little Halloween hobgoblin gnomes are ready for all the fall festivities, especially trick or treating. They come in grey flannel with grey beards and bats on their hats, and white beards with Jack-o-lanterns on their caps. The Walgreens fall gnomes are $3.99.  Hold the presses!  I almost missed these little cuties, but Walgreens has a selection of 4th of July gnomes, and they have just gone on sale! Regularly $5, they are now on sale for $3.79.  Smaller than the gnomes available at Michael’s and Dollar Tree, these cute little fellows look adorable mixed in with the bigger Summer Gnomes .  The Walgreens gnome, left, pictured next to the Michael’s gnome in the middle and the Dollar Tree gnome on the right There were only four gnomes left at my local Walgreens and I left with one of them. ~ Because nothing says 4th of July like pumpkins!! ~ I commented recently on Michael’s May ad for the Lemax Halloween Village a few weeks ago, but nothing prepared me for a recent visit to the store where pumpkins sat next to 4th of July merchandise!  Maybe that mischievous patriotic gnome had something to do with it! Or maybe it’s because some of the pumpkins are white… for red, white and blue! In any case, the summer stuff and July 4 decorations are moving on out while pumpkins and fall have moved in at Michael’s.  Related: Michael’s May Halloween Ad Summer Gnomes 

  The little patriotic gnomes from Dollar Tree picked up some July 4 buckets there and some small 4th of July flags at Michael’s and went on an adventure to find some holiday treasure  They ran into Groovy Girls Vanessa along the way and sat down to share some holiday cheer.  After their visit, the gnomes realized that while they hadn’t filled their buckets with treasure, they had made a new friend— a very great treasure indeed.   Happy 4th of July from the Dollar Tree gnomes and Groovy Girls Vanessa!  Related: Michael’s: 4th of July & Pumpkins!    Summer Gnomes

  It’s summertime! Do you know where your gnome is? Dollar Tree has summer gnomes in stock  I saw two styles: a teal gnome in a blue striped cap with goggles, flippers, and a silly floatie, and a purple gnome with a blue floral cap with sandals and a surfboard   These gnomes are cheaper-made than the previous holiday gnomes but still kind of cute in a whimsical way. I was able to remove the floatie and flimsy breathing apparatus from the teal gnome and I like him much better now. I plan to make him accessories over time to suit me   It would be nice to be able to display them with the patriotic gnomes for Memorial Day and other patriotic holidays, but to me the new ones look a bit cheaper. However, thethe patriotic gnomes look cheaper than the Christmas gnomes which have knitted caps.   Still, I like the sandals and hippie look of the purple gnome, and I may remove his surfboard and accessorize him myself, too. If you thought nutcrackers were just for Christmas, Michael’s would disagree! The craft store has a small selection of patriotic nutcrackers out on its shelves just in time for Memorial Day .  Dressed in both camo and formal attire, the formal nutcrackers hold the American flag. They only come on one height, two styles and two skin tones.  Also on display are these cute patriotic cloth animals dressed in their red, white and blue stripes.  Michael’s has other patriotic figures for sale, from gnomes to everything else. The Easter gnomes from Dollar Tree have been busy getting ready for Easter by putting together their Easter baskets. All of these cloth-doll gnomes except for the one in the sequined cap in the foreground came from Dollar Tree.  So did the cloth bunny.  The gnome craze has brought new collectors into the world of doll collecting the past several years, so try incorporating a little “gnome sweet gnome” into your holiday decorating this year     Related: St. Patrick’s Day Gnomes vs. Leprechauns

  I admit I am late to the gnome party. I first started seeing them at Dollar Tree a few years ago, and then they were all over Michael’s every season, but it took a while for them to grow on me. Finally last year I bought one, and then another, and now I have a gnome or two dressed in seasonal fashions for almost every holiday.  The latest selection of gnomes at Dollar Tree is the Easter collection. There are four different Easter characters this year: a boy gnome dressed in green with a white yarn beard; a girl gnome with bunny ears wearing a pink polka dot dress and a sequined hat; a boy gnome dressed in blue and pink with a pastel beard; and a girl gnome dressed in blue and pink with 2 ponytails.   There are also bunny rabbits made in the same shapes and sizes that come in brown and white. The Tiny Treasures gnomes have been enjoying the summer showers, coming out of their gnome homes right after the rains when the forest is cool and damp. The whimsical little figures look equally at home in an indoor garden as they do in  the great outdoors. Their diminutive gnome habitat is so enticing, it has attracted visitors.  Rick from Rick and Morty has used his portal gun to transport himself into gnome world, and what I think is a stray vintage Bashful dwarf figure from Snow White has found his way to his new home. Sometimes it’s just fun to mix your minis up! So next time it showers take a look outside to see if a little gnome village has popped up in your back yard. You never know! Because there truly is no place like gnome.

The little Tiny Treasures Woodland Fairytale Miniatures gnomes decided they were tired of living under a potted plant and moved outside to live among the toadstools.  These mushrooms popped up overnight and were just too cute a setting to ignore. Michaels has been carrying some cute little miniature figures with a forest theme that are perfect for using with your indoor plants or alone in their own little woodland setting. Today the little figures were half price so I snapped up a few. My tiny gnomes were placed in a large pot which houses my dracaena for a little indoor fun. I added an intersection flat rock with a fossil I found in my yard and then thought to add an artificial flower sprig. I may add a few other odds and ends as my fairyland grows. I am not sure how well the little figures will hold up after countless waterings and listings and I avoided the cute little buildings with thatch or miss on them for that reason. In the meantime, I will enjoy the color and whimsy these little fairyland miniatures add to my indoor garden.
