Fashion Dolls 101

Steve Carrell and assortment of fashion dolls stars in the quirky, cute and somewhat politically correct movie “Welcome to Marwen.” After a brutal attack by five men, Mark Hogancamp is left crippled emotionally and physically. With many of his memories lost and unable to draw because of his injuries, Mark picks up his camera and begins to reconstruct his memories and his life by taking photos of dolls. These photos reinact scenes from his broken memories and his dreams and take him on a cathartic journey into a new chance at life. The movie follows Mark’s staging and photographing doll dioramas, constructed in the elaborate town of Marwen Belgium he has constructed in his back yard. As he sets up the photos, the dolls come to life to tell the story through Mark’s imagination. Mincraft figures make for fun winter dioramas. I chose the colorful 3" Minecraft figures for these two shots. The first diorama was done for the Minecraft Tribes page on Facebook and was made using a small indoor herb garden and miniature Christmas trees. Alex holds a redstone flare since she doesn't have a Christmas candle while Steve holds a sword to ward off the Creeper and Slime mobs who have invited themselves to the Christmas party. The second scene was obviously shot in the snow to capture the snowy biome experience. Alex guards the TNT and a Villager works at his anvil in front of Steve's winter pagoda while the Creeper and the Slime plan mischief around the corner.
