Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree with Nancy Ann Storybook Dolls

Image
The petite little 6" Nancy Ann Story Book Dolls were made from 1936 to 1971 by the Nancy Ann Story Book Doll Company. The doll company was founded by Nancy Ann Abbott in San Francisco, California in 1936. Originally bisque dolls, the dolls were later made of hard plastic. The clothes were well made of excellent fabrics: lace, satin, velvet and cotton. The natural material used for the hair often did not stand up well to moths if the dolls were played with much. The blonde doll in the purple and green dress is "Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice" (158). I don't know about the others. If you can ID any of them, please leave a comment. The dolls are sometimes listed with the abbreviation NASB for   N ancy  A nn  S tory  B ook Doll Company Related Articles: A Very 8” Dolly Christmas A Very Vintage Barbie Halloween

The Doll Who Became President: Donald J. Trump Talking Doll

Image
While doll companies frequently make dolls of former Presidents, such as GI Joe's Dwight D. Eisenhower and the Franklin Mint's John F. Kennedy figures, it is unique in the world of doll collecting that a doll character became president after the fact. Such is the case with the Stevenson Entertainment Group's Donald J. Trump Talking Doll. The closest competition would be Arnold  Schwarzenegger who was exploring a run for president in 2013 and who has action figures in his likeness.  However, the Donald J. Trump Talking Doll is historic. On this Election Eve 2020, I thought it would be fun to take a look at this iconic doll.  The Donald Trump dolls was made in 2004 during the time period when Trump was starring on the popular reality show, "The Apprentice."  The show has run in various formats across fifteen seasons since January 2004 on  NBC , most recently in 2017, but was most popular during the 14 seasons Trump hosted it. Interestingly,  Arnold ...

A Very Vintage Barbie Halloween

Image
Trick or Treat? This year we are going for a Halloween treat with vintage Barbie and Skipper in their 1960s Pierrette Halloween Masquerade costumes.  The black and gold masquerade costumes are perfect for Halloween festivities, with their pointy hats, black tights, shoes and masks. Barbie and Skipper look picture perfect together .  There was a matching ensemble for Ken but I never got it, so poor Ken is left out of the Halloween picture. That's ok, because my dog, Jack, was also dressed up for Halloween and kept hopping in the picture. Although I have collected several other Halloween dolls through the years, this vintage Barbie and Skipper duo in their gold and black Masquerade outfits remain my favorite Halloween dolls. Happy Halloween from vintage Barbie and Skipper... and Jack! Related Articles: New Vintage Barbie Accessories at Walgreens Do You Have Frightening HALLOWEEN HANDS??? Moxie Teenz & Fan Girls Host a Labor Day Garden Party

Image
The Moxie Teenz and their friends, the Madame Alexander Marvel Fan Girls threw a Labor Day party to welcome the last days of summer in style, and they invited some friends to celebrate with them. The girl just got their photos back and couldn't wait to share them.  To their delight, the Fan Girls have discovered they look good posing with the My Scene boy dolls, so they invited them to enjoy the Labor Day festivities. They even let Jackie Evancho and a Placo soldier join them for the outdoor party. Wave 3 Tristan with long black rooted hair is wearing her pink party dress for the occasion,. Not to be outdone, Melrose found another pink party dress to wear. She also quickly made friends with the Placo soldier. Fan Girl Gwen wore a sweet little dress from eBay.  Gavin came in his original outfit, minus the jacket and tie, and with more informal white shoes he borrowed from another boy doll from one of the singing groups. And Tristen, who is wearing a Barbie dress with add...

Madame Alexander Marvel Fan Girls Dolls: Spider-Gwen Review

Image
The Spider-Gwen Fan Girl doll from Madame Alexander is as cute as the other two dolls I have reviewed in this series, but she has a few flaws they lack.  What I Like About the Madame Alexander Marvel Fan Girl Spider-Gwen This doll has the same pretty Face mold as the other M.A. Fan Girls, as well as rooted lashes and an articulated body. The doll has already been fun to redress and pose. I have a mixed reaction to her two-tone hair. While it is currently trendy, it dates her, and I will probably wish she didn't have partially pink hair before too long.  Her vivid blue eyes are lovely and expressive. The sunglasses are cute, but they don't fold. Spider-Gwen's little teal boots are adorable and were quickly stolen by the Black Widow Fan Girl, because they match her Barbie dress. What I Don't Like About the Madame Alexander Marvel Spider-Gwen Fan Girl This doll's costume is a mess. I would love the pink-lined silver hoody if it were attached to a shirt or jacket, but i...

Silkstone Barbie looks like a lovely Irish lass dressed in her vintage-look shamrock dress and St. Patrick's Day apron.  Her red hair is elegantly styled in loose auburn waves, and her green eyes sparkle. My Valentine Bear

Image
There isn't really anything special about this cute bear with pink ears, nose and feet other than I received him for Valentine's Day along with some pale pink roses from my husband.  That, of course, makes him the most special bear in the world, even though my Valentine bear came from WalMart! Snapstar Hairstyle Wigs a Good Fit for Moxie Teenz, Liv Dolls

Image
The relatively new Snapstar line of dolls from Yuzu have been marked down at Walmart along with their cute wigs. When I saw the $1.50 price tag, I knew it was time to try the wigs out on my Moxie Teenz dolls. The two wigs I found had attractive photos of the wigs, but would the wigs look like the photos, and would they fit the large heads of the Moxie Teenz and Liv dolls? The pink/blonde wig was almost identical to the photo but it had a long plug of plastic in it like the Liv wigs. Apparently Snapstar dolls have a hole in their heads. That's ok. I have been through this with Liv dolls. I simply turned the Snapstar wig inside out and cut off the plug. The pink/blonde wig fit perfectly on Moxie Teenz Melrose, so I did the same with the red wig. The red wig did not look like the photo. The photo on the Snapstar box shows flowing waves and straight bangs similar to the pink/blonde wig, but what you really get is a shorter curlier hairdo with some wave in the bangs. Still ...
