Let’s Pretend Doll Playsets


 The other night I noticed these little dolls for the umpteenth time at Dollar Tree. I have not been remotely interested them… until this week. 


Then I noticed the little handbag would be the perfect size for a briefcase or tote for the Barbie Micro Minis (photos coming later). So I thought an orange bag might be nice for fall. But then I thought a green one would be nice for spring and summer…and St Patrick’s Day. 

In addition, the “Stanley” tumbler, while on the large size for the Minis, may actually display well as an oversized tumbler. 



And the little dolls actually grew on me. I don’t see them becoming something I will photograph or play with again, but who knows? With their pop on plastic clothes and lemon heads, they might just grow on me. 

Doll playsets come with 10 plastic pieces. $1.75 each.

Barbie Turns 55 Today!

Happy 55th birthday, Barbie! I knew you when you were just a teenage fashion model and I was a nine-year-old girl. That's when I got my first Barbie doll, and I was so excited! She was the favorite toy of my childhood and preteens, and when she disappeared from the home place after my mother died, I mourned her like an old friend. She wasn't the elusive original #1 Barbie doll, but she was a beautiful blonde #4 Barbie, soon followed by Skipper, Ken, homely Midge as well as cousing Francie, Todd, Tutti and a host of other dolls. Barbie doll has been the subject of praise, an object of ridicule, and the center of controversy , but no matter how many issues adults try to blame on Barbie , most little girls still love her. The President Who Is Immortalized in Pop Culture as a Doll

  To commemorate the inauguration of President Donald Trump, this is an appropriate time to look at the fun figures inspired by the man himself. While some would disagree, many would say the man himself is a living doll.  There’s no denying he has inspired several dolls and figures   First is the Donald J. Trump 12” talking doll (center) which was released in 2004 while he was the star of the tv show, “The Apprentice.” This doll is a relatively life-like depiction of how Donald Trump looked while on the reality series and it says 17 phrases in his voice that were made popular on the show.  It is dressed in his typical navy blue suit with red tie   Next is the Trump troll doll (left) which was issued fairly recently, probably in 2023 or 2024.
