Image
A tisket, a tasket A green and yellow basket I bought a basket for my love And on the way I dropped it Easter 2019 brings lots of colorful goodies our way: Easter baskets, Easter eggs, little chicks and sweet bunnies and lets not forget -- fashion dolls dressed up for the holiday! This Easter the weather was a little cool, so some of the girls grabbed a jacket to wear with their Easter dresses. Nutcracker Barbie, several Moxie Teenz dolls, a Liv/Jackie Evancho hybrid doll, a Marvel Black Widow Fan Girl, and another Moxie Teenz doll have donned their fashion ensembles in pastel greens, purples, pinks and blues to celebrate Easter Sunday. Wearing their holiday colors, the dolls look right at home in a pink, green and yellow Easter basket. Who needs to decorate with little chicks when you have chic fashion dolls! Happy Easter from this eclectic mix of chic 14 inch fashionistas! Chic derives from the French word 'chique' which means skills and elegance - and ove...

Three Lucky Leprechauns (Dolls) for St. Patrick's Day

Image
Faith and begorrah! It's St. Patrick's Day Eve! You know, the traditional night when fashion dolls dress up in their green St. Paddy's finery to impersonate leprechauns and go looking for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! The Madame Alexander Fan Girl  Black Widow doll on the left is wearing a green two-piece ensemble with a Saint Patrick's Day hair clip. Next to her, the Moxie Teenz doll wears a dress borrowed from a Barbie doll knock off. On the right, Liv in a red wig (on a Jackie Evancho doll body), wears a mid-length strapless sheath made out of the same material as the Fan Girl doll's two-piece outfit. These cute dolls take being a leprechaun to a whole new fashion level. The other leprechauns will be green with envy! If you display St. Patricks Day dolls, tell us about them in the comments below. Happy St. Patrick's Day from Fashion Dolls 101! May the road rise up to meet you, May the wind be always at your back, May the sun shine ...

Barbie Doll Celebrates 60 Amazing Years: Facts about Mattel's Iconic Barbie Doll

Image
March 9, 2020, marked the birthday of the iconic Barbie doll, one of the world's favorite children's toys and the most popular doll on the market. Barbie dolls are sold in 150 countries around the world. The first Barbie doll was officially released by Mattel on March 9, 1959, at the New York Toy Fair at a cost of only $3. That first Barbie doll had side-glancing eyes with white irises, red lips and arched eyebrows. Her hair was styled in a ponytail with curly bangs. She had a very pale, ivory skin tone and came in blonde and brunette.  Barbie Doll's 50th Anniversary Barbie wore her famous black and white striped swimsuit and sported sunglasses and black heels. She came with either copper tubes in her feet for her first stand, or the black wire stand that lasted for much of the ponytale vintage era. Sixty years later she's more popular than ever.  On average 58 million Barbie dolls are sold each year. 60th Anniversary Barbie Doll Barbie has had well over 200 different c...

There’s No Place Like Gnome

Image
The little Tiny Treasures Woodland Fairytale Miniatures gnomes decided they were tired of living under a potted plant and moved outside to live among the toadstools.  These mushrooms popped up overnight and were just too cute a setting to ignore. The colorful gnomes make an enchanted village among the toadstools.  Related: Tiny Treasure Woodland Fairytale Miniatures Fun for Indoor Gardens http://fashion-dolls-101.blogspot.com/2018/07/tiny-treasures-woodland-fairytale.html?m=1

Tiny Treasures Woodland Fairytale Miniatures Fun for Indoor Gardens

Image
Michaels has been carrying some cute little miniature figures with a forest theme that are perfect for using with your indoor plants or alone in their own little woodland setting. Today the little figures were half price so I snapped up a few. My tiny gnomes were placed in a large pot which houses my dracaena for a little indoor fun. I added an intersection flat rock with a fossil I found in my yard and then thought to add an artificial flower sprig. I may add a few other odds and ends as my fairyland grows. I am not sure how well the little figures will hold up after countless waterings and listings and I avoided the cute little buildings with thatch or miss on them for that reason. In the meantime, I will enjoy the color and whimsy these little fairyland miniatures add to my indoor garden. Comparing Madame Alexander Fan Girls Bodies to Moxie Teenz, Etc.

Image
Nutcracker Barbie, Black Widow Fan Girls, Moxie Teenz Melrose, Jackie Evancho Madame Alexander’s Marvel Fan Girls are alike in size and appearance to Moxie Teenz and similar dolls like Jackie Evancho and other 13 1/2” - 14” fashion dolls. With similar builds, they can swap many outfits out. In this first photo both the Fan Girl and Barbie Nutcracker dolls are wearing the same Moxie Teenz Top. However, there are still some differences. The Madame Alexander Fan Girls are slimmer than Moxie Teenz and the other dolls. They can easily wear many Barbie clothes. The Black Widow Fan Girls Doll in the photo is wearing a red pleather Barbie skirt. How the Dolls Stack Up The Fan Girls Dolls have very slender necks that are not in proportion to their heads but their larger heads help them display well with the Moxie Teenz. They have skinnier arms than the other dolls. The Fan Girls are missing the twist torso and bendable ankles of the Moxie Teenz but are very poseable due to other ball...

Club Chelsea and Camping Fun Boy Doll

Image
Recently a new doll joined the Barbie friends and family collection— an apparently unnamed boy doll. First appearing with the Chelsea Club series, the cute little boy has also turned up in the new Barbie Camping Fun series of dolls with a cute fishing pole. The Barbie site at Mattel caries a picture of the original Club Chelsea boy doll, and I found the little African American male doll at Walmart.com.  All of them are cute but I think I like the little black-haired guy with the camera on his striped t-shirt that came with the Club Chelsea line the best.  What do you think of Chelsea’s new guy friend?
