Martha on the Mantle



 I love traditional Christmas elves but the new celebrity elves that keep cropping up occasionally are not really my cup of tea. However, when my local Walmart had these left over after Christmas and marked down substantially— I couldn’t help myself. I picked one up plus the one remaining wardrobe accessory. 


Now, if you were to say she looks awkward, I would agree. Not too Christmassy? Agreed. And yet… I am still looking forward to taking her out of her box to put her with my Christmas elf display next year. She may not really be a holiday tradition, but she might be a fun addition.  I’m going to give Martha on the Mantel the benefit of the doubt.

Happy 55th birthday, Barbie! I knew you when you were just a teenage fashion model and I was a nine-year-old girl. That's when I got my first Barbie doll, and I was so excited! Fashion Dolls 101 Woman of the Year Award 2025

M any magazines and organizations award women their prestigious Woman of the Year Awards , usually in the spring, to honor females who have broken glass ceilings and contributed significantly to their respective industries, regions, etc.  But a recent trend has been to name MEN as “Woman of the Year,” as long as they wear a dress and call themselves a women.  Males Winning Woman of the Year In 2014, Time awarded their “Woman of the Year” award to Roderick “Laverne” Cox. Glamour Magazine also manawarded their 2014 “Woman of the Year” honors to Cox. The President Who Is Immortalized in Pop Culture as a Doll

  To commemorate the inauguration of President Donald Trump, this is an appropriate time to look at the fun figures inspired by the man himself. While some would disagree, many would say the man himself is a living doll.  There’s no denying he has inspired several dolls and figures   First is the Donald J. Trump 12” talking doll (center) which was released in 2004 while he was the star of the tv show, “The Apprentice.” This doll is a relatively life-like depiction of how Donald Trump looked while on the reality series and it says 17 phrases in his voice that were made popular on the show.  It is dressed in his typical navy blue suit with red tie   Next is the Trump troll doll (left) which was issued fairly recently, probably in 2023 or 2024.
