  1994 Davy Crockett doll by Mattel In December of 1954, Disney aired the first of five episodes of their Davy Crockett miniseries on ABC starring Fess Parker as Crockett and Buddy Ebsen as his friend George Russel. That first episode was "Davy Crockett, Indian Fighter" and it gave birth to "The Ballad of Davy Crockett" and an obsession with coon skin caps. Forty years later, Mattel produced a Davy Crockett doll to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Davy Crockett television series in 1994.
